Wedgewood Country Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Lakeland, Florida, 30 minutes east of Tampa Florida and 30 minutes west of Orlando Florida.
Wedgewood Country Club first opened for play in 1961. The course was designed by Ron Garl.
Unusual for Florida, the course sits on hilly terrain. Wedgewood is a good challenge for the average golfer. The greens are protected by numerous bunkers. The greens are rolling and some are elevated. Ten ponds that come into play on nine holes.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees, the course plays to 7,105 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,855 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 539 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-159 that plays to 158 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, a 428-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Wedgewood Golf Course is # 11, the 159 yard par-3.
The signature hole is #15, a 191-yard, par 3, which offers great scenery and calls for a carry over water to long, narrow green.

Sand in sand traps is comparable to flour...much to soft. Course layout is great. Water on 9 of the 18 holes. Course is well maintained, greens track true and are receptive to well struck shots. Fairways are well defined by rough line. You will probably use most of the clubs in your bag on this course. I play this course quite a bit and highly reccomend it to the 18 handicapper as well as the scratch player.

A fairly nice course for the price. Conditions comparable to Cleveland Heights which probably is the best open play course in Lakeland. Staff very friendly. Too many Condos on the front nine where you find yourself driving through a lot of parking lots. Gas powered carts a very noisy but in good condition. Will play again.
